I have IPhone 4 and ITunes does not show the ios 5 update.
Many times I re install the phone, but the result was the same.

Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes. To be able to update to iOS 5 you need to have iTunes 10.5 installed in your system.

To update your iTunes installation, Open iTunes, go to Help then click on Check for Updates. After that if you're iTunes installation is not updated yet, it will inform you of an update and ask you to download and install it. After you download and install it, have your iDevice connected to your computer. When iTunes detects it, it will check if there's an updated software for it (iOS 5). It will then as you if you'd like to Download and Update or just download it. Just go ahead and Download and Update your iDevice and that 's it.

You can also update your iDevice by clicking on it on iTunes, then at the right click on Update. It will go through a checking process for any updates, then prompt you if it detects one.

The Apple iPhone 4 runs on iOS 4 originally and can be upgraded until iOS 7.1.1. If you are not receiving any update or you are not receiving the iOS 5 update when using iTunes, I guess the problem is not with your mobile phone but with iTunes itself. If you haven’t updated iTunes yet, update it now. Visit Download iTunes Latest to get the latest version.
For Windows users, this is the 32-bit installer. If you’re on 64-bit Microsoft Windows, visit iTunes 64-bit to get the 64-bit version of the installer. Once downloaded, uninstall your existing version. Click Start, Control Panel, and then Add or Remove Programs. Select iTunes from the list then click Uninstall or Remove. After that, open Windows Explorer then navigate to the download folder.
Double-click the iTunes installer you just downloaded to install the latest version. Once installed, connect your iPhone to your computer then start iTunes. Try checking for any iOS update again and you should be able to receive the latest iOS version applicable to your phone.
