Hello techyv.com!
I have here a Lenovo laptop, I have been using my touchpad for over a year already. Now it says that my Synaptics pointing device driver have been corrupted. Now my touchpad has started working weird, I can't seem to control it the way it should be. This starts when I'am using my laptop and suddenly there was a blackout. When I'd turned it on again, this problem appears. What should I do about this?
The Synaptics pointing device driver had gone corrupted.
Hi Liam Sam,
I have read the issue with your Synaptics Driver. Since the driver is corrupted, you would need to install a new one. You will have to uninstall tour existing driver first. The steps are:
1. Click the Start button at the lower left corner of the screen
2. Click Control Panel
3. A screen will load up with all the programs installed on the computer, look for Add/remove programs (for windows XP) or Uninstall Programs (windows Vista or 7), then click it
4. Another window will load up with the list of application or programs installed on the computer. We need to look for Synaptics Touchpad Driver and then click it once
5. Click the remove/uninstall button at the top part or upper part of the screen
6. The un-installation screen will load up; we just need to follow the steps to uninstall the driver
After uninstalling the application, we need to re-install the driver again and here are the steps:
1. Shut down your computer and restart it.
2. Click here and download the latest driver for your operating System
3. Alternately, you can also visit this Lenovo site and get all the drivers corresponding to your laptop model
4. Click on the new version of Synaptics that you downloaded and click "Run”.
5. We need to follow the steps until the installation is complete.
6. Restart your laptop.
Your touchpad should be working fine now. Hopefully, your issue has been resolved.
