I cannot install Lotus Notes 8.5.2

I have all the packages to install Lotus Notes 8.5.2 with DPKG – on Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit. When I open the application, nothing happens! I have browsed through Linux forums but nothing is working. Please help.

I cannot install Lotus Notes 8.5.2

Hi Lynn Whine,

There are many issues regarding Lotus Notes 8.5.2, especially when it's installed on Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit. First issue, is the missing Libraries "File is missing". Second issue, can't see emails (internal/external), there are some internet email can't see.

Try to upgrade to 7.0.x in order to fix your email issue and the missing libraries. My suggestion is to change your Ubuntu to Windows so that your emails will guarantee work. Lotus  programs are design for the windows system where you can't find the error in it's application. Ubuntu users still doing research as of now on how to run Lotus in Ubuntu perfectly without errors.

NotesRepair allows you to detect and attempt repair of problems with the Lotus Notes client configuration files. This application has the ability to compact your workspace and databases outside the Lotus Notes client.

 

Problems that commonly happen with the Lotus Notes client have the following symptoms:

 

Memory allocation errors (often called the Red Box of Death)

File handle errors.

Database that displays or behaves incorrectly.

 

The actual problem may be caused by:

 

Corruption of desktop file (desktop6.ndk)

Corruption of personal address book (names.nsf)

Corruption of configuration file NOTES.INI

Corruption of other supporting databases.

 

Some of these problems are caused by a PC or file server holding the Lotus Notes data files crashing unexpectedly and not being able to correctly update and close files.
