Hi everyone,

I am working with digital subscriber line. I am facing a problem with measuring dsl line. How can I measure the dsl line quality? Please help me out from this.

How can I measure the dsl line quality?

Hello Mr Chad,

Download speed, Upload speed, Ping and Packet loss are the four main properties to determine the quality of a DSL Internet connection. Most people pay more attention to the first two but ping and packet loss are also very important.

Please follow the steps given below to measure DSL line quality :

1. Cancel any active downloads and close programs that access the Internet. Also remember about software updates and file-sharing programs.

2. Go to an Internet speed testing site listed below:

Fast Internet Speed Test

Speedtest

3. If given a choice select the location closest to you otherwise proceed to next step.

4. Begin the test. Results of the test will be shown  after downloading and uploading a certain amount of data.

5. Visit one or more of the other speed testing sites. Running multiple tests is the best way to get an overall picture of the quality of your DSL line.

6. Run ping and packet loss test to determine your packet loss rating. Lower ratings are better.

How can I measure the dsl line quality?

 

Hello.

There are lots of web tools that can help you to test you bandwidth. But I suggest the one that I always use now. To check or measure your internet line quality you may try to check on this link:

http://www.speedtest.net/

It gives you your connection speed, upload and download. You may first try to close all browsers and other web applications and then measure your internet speed. Then compare it on having all web applications open. See the difference and make sure that you are paying the speed that you are looking for.
