When and why is this new feature added in Facebook

This new option talking about this mean how many people visit your page totally.

You see the number increase every day and every hour when any one go to your page is increase by it self and you can see under view  Insights in the left corner of your page the activity in chart explain the traffic in your page daily weekly and monthly.

Hi there,

Facebook's "Talking about this" feature is the number of people who create stories from your page posts like; sharing, liking or commenting in your posts, answering a question/poll or responding an event.

 

It is designed to show conversations happening about your page. 

 

By the way, this was launched around October 2011.
