Some builds of windows 10 kernel especially the earlier builds have some serious audio issues with hardware detection while working with other third party drivers. It has been often reported that windows 10 either thinks that headphones are always connected or simply does not recognize headphones or other audio attachments. How can we try solving this problem?

Windows 10 Thinks My Headphone Is Always Plugged In

If a user reports this problem to Microsoft support they will tell you to update drivers but in most cases that does not solve the issue as it is not caused due to Microsoft drivers. One way to solve this can be to disable front panel jack detection that is authenticated by third party drivers. Best would be to plug in a headphone and start a new hardware detection. We can follow the steps given below: (unlike windows 7 or earlier this cannot be achieved from registry dword values)

a) Start the realtek hd audio client or DTS audio client that is in windows 10.

b) Go to advanced settings and enable multi streaming and disable jack detection.

c) Plug in your headphone and try a hardware check.

d) You may try the same from BIOS if the above options are not found.
