How to back up to cisco router hard drive ?

Hi Experts,

I am having a Cisco router and hard disk with a capacity of 40 GB.The cisco router is a advanced router. I want to know how to back up to Cisco router hard drive. I tried to get back up using UTP cable. But it was unsuccessful. Anyone suggest me a good solution. Thanks.

How to back up to cisco router hard drive ?

Hello,

You can backup the Cisco router configuration into a TFTP server. First you would need to run TFTP service on your hard disk. FTP service can also work. Following are the steps that would enable you to backup on the TFTP server.  

 

• At the Router> prompt, issue the enable command for getting the privileged mode.
• Copy the running configuration file to the TFTP server using the command:
• Copy running-config tftp.
• You will be prompted to enter the address of the TFTP server. Provide the IP address of the TFTP server.
• You will be prompted to enter the destination file name, with which you want to save the configuration.
• Use   the following command to confirm that the configuration file that has been done; the file of the configuration has been copied to the destination router or storage device
