Shut down problem Windows XP

Hello I am new computer user. I am starting use from last few months. My current operating system is Windows XP and it is not more than one month old. Now-a-days I face very irritating problem with my computer. My computer takes too much time to turn off or shut down. When I want to shut down computer, it takes more time than normal. It feels too much irritating for me. Can anyone help me to solve this problem? Please help me to solve this problem.

Hi dear richard,

• you seem to face a very boring problem of computer. It feels too bad when you just want to turn off your computer after your work done and it takes too much time. It happens due to windows default system. Actually windows create some temporary files when it works and also delete those files when it closes down. When you work for more time the files are more created and it takes too much time to delete them. And it causes more time to shut down the computer.
•  But don’t worry you can solve this and prevent your computer to take more time to shut down. For this you just need to go run and write regedit and press ok or enter. Now registry editor will open. Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. By double clicking you can open it. Go to system, and select control from there. Select session manager in control and find out the memory management menu. Select ClearPageAtShutdown and make its value 0(null). Now hoping your computer takes normal time to shut down.

    Hope you get my point to solve your problem.

Hi Richard,

Follow these steps to make your windows XP run faster,

1. Uninstall some of your programs that you didn’t really use. It consumed some RAM especially if the program is auto run while you open your computer
2. Run a Check Disk. Double click on the‘ my computer’ icon on the desktop > right click to your C: drive and then choose Properties. When a dialog box displays, click on the Tools tab. Check now and click the 2 boxes and a start message will tell you that perform check disk on next reboot, click yes. When the computer restarts it will perform a check disk.  It will search for some errors in your disk and at the same time it will try to repair them.
3. Run a Defrag. Double click on the‘ my computer’ icon on the desktop > right click to your C: drive and then choose Properties. When a dialog box display, click on the Tools tab > Defragment now. Be patience because this process took very long to finish depending on how large of the storage of your hard disk.
4. Clean your browsing files, use ccleaner program for this, if you don’t have installed in your computer you can download it here.

Dear User,

Thanks for asking.

Dear there are many things in computer that make it slower.

First, remove all the offline files, temporary files and other system files that are not necessary.

You have to delete these files to boost the booting speed.

Go to C:WINDOWSPrefetch and delete all files from here.

Then C:Documents and SettingsUserLocal settingsTemp delete all files from this folder.

Turn of automatic updates. Some updates download automatically and start installation when we shut down the computer.

Do these things, you will see the difference.
