Word count feature in 2007 is really useful, you can turn it on by doing the step below:

  1. Point your mouse to the bottom of the word window and press right click
  2. Choose the option word count

After doing the step above, the word count feature will be turned on for the entire document and you can see the count in the status bar.

Another tip, if you want to count words in a paragraph or sentence, simply block the words using your mouse and you can see the word count.

If you need to count the words in your document, you don’t need to install any program. You can do it right within Microsoft Office Word. First, compose your document in Microsoft Office Word. To check the current number of words in your document, press CTRL + A on your keyboard to select or highlight the entire contents of your composition.

On the bottom left corner of your screen, right above the “Start” menu, you should see something like “Words: 257/257”. This is the current word count of your document.

The value on the left of the slash (“/”) symbol is the number of words currently selected or highlighted while the value on the right is the total number of words in your document. You can also click this to bring up the “Word Count” dialog.
