Get Hooked on the Latest Version of iTunes (version 10.1)
All over the world, millions and millions of people are using iTunes a program from Apple, as their default music player. Each year, it improves and adds a new feature to bring it above the rest.
In the last version, iTunes 10, the company integrated the TV function to the program along with enhanced application management and some changes in its cosmetics. In Version 10.1; the latest product of the company, there is an additional support for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Together with this, is the support for video streaming, called AirPlay, in TVs by Apple, and some performance fixes. The latest version of iTunes is like your very own social network that organizes media functions.
The newest release is full of new features, awesome play lists, and mixes by Genius. This application creates play lists automatically basing on moods and styles. Another new feature is the iTunes LP that gives you pictures, videos, and notes together with the downloaded sound. You and your friends can also mix and vote for songs with its DJ feature. Together with this feature, buyers will like the subscriptions for pod casts, Internet radio, and an equalizer. These features can’t be found in other players.
Installations and Initial Use
ITunes is compatible with a number of operating systems like Windows Operating Systems and Mac OS X (latest up to the 10.5 version). You can choose whether to use this or other music players.
After the program has been installed, an assistant would aid you in the installation process to customize the installation on a Mac OS. Various added features to the program really depend on the operating system. Privacy checks will also ask if you would want to download an album art application.
Tutorials are also offered when you launch your iTunes application. These cover 9 sessions on various topics. Another view is also added to the latest version, called the Album List View, that would show album art instead of titles.
Ping: iTunes’ very own social network
The greatest thing that was added in iTunes 10 is Ping, a social network that focuses on music. It’s like Twitter because it lets the user follow other users and performers. It also features an application that lets users post the concerts and events that they would want to attend. With this, you can say that it is somewhat a cross between Face book and Twitter because of the blue theme.
However, unlike other social networking sites, the posts that can be posted in Ping is limited because it is strictly connected to iTunes. Another advantage with Ping is the privacy that it provides. The user can choose the actions or security measures they want to use.
In Ping, your full name is displayed in the page. You also won’t be able to see other users’ libraries and you cannot easily find other users from social networking sites. Ping is actually more of a marketing tool rather than a social networking application. Whether the company has any plans on expanding Ping, it really depends on iTunes to make it hands-on.
