Windows XP needs my current credentials

Hello! I am having problems with my Windows XP. I keep receiving error on my Taskbar that says, First of all, I don’t know what does lock your computer means. Does it mean I have to lock my user account and then unlock it with a password? I did not put any password on my Windows account. Secondly, what credentials are needed? Can someone please share some knowledge and explain this to me? I also hope that I can resolve this.

 “Windows needs your current credentials.

Please lock this computer, then unlock it using your most recent password or smart card.”

Hi!

This error message is a bug.

Just click on Start Menu then select Run and type GPEDIT.MSC and hit enter.

It opens Group Policy Editor.

Under Computer Configuration, expand Administrative Templates > System > Logon.
Select the "Always wait for the network at computer startup" value.
The default state is "not configured". Right click on it select properties and check “Enable”.

Windows XP needs my current credentials

Is your account that you are using the administrator account? If that is the case then you can check if there are passwords that have been configured for that accounts by going to the user accounts.

• On your computer click on start and the click on control panel from the list of programs.
• Under users accounts click on 'add or remove accounts'
• In the window that will open, click on the admin account and look at the credentials that have been allocated. If there is any then clear all of them.
• If there are any other accounts with some credentials that are responsible for the problem, then you will have to delete that account.

Once you have done that restart your system and see if the error has been solved.
