Hi Javeconsorte,

One of the most obvious change to Microsoft Word 2007 is the replacement of the toolbar into what Microsoft calls the “Ribbon”.

As you can see in the image below, you don’t have the default menus you were used to like File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Tools, etc. Instead, what you will see is a gallery of tabbed menu that groups features according to the task that you need to do to the word document.

Another striking change is you will now see the “Office” button which replaces the File menu. If you click on this button, you will see the usual things you were used to seeing if you click on the File menu. See the image below.

These changes can become quite confusing at first but you know, once you get used to it, you may find that Microsoft 2007 has a lot more features that can help you better than its older versions.

Hello Javeconsorte,

You posted a good question and I would be happy to answer it. The new version of Microsoft contains lots of different features and hence is more useable than the previous versions although this version contains the new style and there are such changes that make it less user friendly as I mentioned here:

There are lots of tabs within the user view and within these tabs there are lots of functions and if a user need to search for some function then user need time to search it first and it requires lot of effort.

In the Home tab there are many styles which are shown directly on screen that just contains the screen space and they are even no use for some time.

The little arrow buttons are not easy to judge for new users.
