Is it possible to duplicate a database server and its content and then transfer to a virtual machine? We wish to do it with servers that are on expensive machines.

Hey There Buddy!

                Yes you can duplicate your database server and all of its contents to a virtual machine, but before you do so please make sure that all active database services are disabled on your physical machine to avoid transfer errors and issues that could further delay your transfer.

      What’s more? I have here the VMware vCenter Converter Standalone, free software that could assist you in your transferring of files. It automates the transferring of files from physical to virtual machines and it also support the conversion of most commonly used versions of Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
