Plugin import dds to 3 ds for later 3ds max versions

Is there plugin import dds to 3ds for later versions? I have downloaded NV DDS plug in for 3DS MAX, but my version is 3DS MAX 5. Will it be running there?

Yes certainly you can get the plugin to import dds to 3Ds for latest versions. “Legacy Texture Tools” is quite a very well-match for you need. It consisted of sets of DDS image files, nvDXT, Command-line binary and much more. Supported versions for the link above are 3D Studio Max 3 to 5, and includes the latest version's source code.
