Outlook is an email client but also serves as a personal information manager. It can be used to view and managed Calendars, Contacts and Tasks. When used with Exchange server account, it can be used for group scheduling and sharing contacts.
Outlook Express is much more compatible with POP3 and IMAP compatible mail client. It is available for Windows XP via the Internet Explorer. It can be setup much simpler if you are just going to use for reading mails and accessing newsgroups. Proper configuration can be setup to retrieve your messages via POP3 and IMAP client.
Outlook and Outlook express can both receive emails from multiple email accounts set up on them.
