I am having a problem configuring the new computers at my workplace which are running on Windows 7 Pro x64. I would like to have these connect to the print server using the pushprinterconnections.exe, with the printers mapped through group policy. Adding the 64-bit driver for the Xerox phase did not help.
The other PCs running on WinXP x32 do not have the same problems and are functioning well. I am wondering if I have to create a new printer and also an AD container and policy in the Print Management. Clearly I am missing something. Hope you can help.
Thanks.
Problem in Configuring Print Server for Win7 Pro x64
-
Perform the following steps in your computer.
-
Go to Print management of your computer.
-
On the left side click on the print servers. Go to applicable print server. In it, click printers.
-
At the center right click on the applicable printer and after that just click on the deploy with group policy.
-
In the same dialog box, browser and select to create a new GPO for the connections of the printers. Apply it by clicking ok.
-
If you want all users to access the printer, select the per machine option in the GPO
-
I you want groups to access printer so that each group access 1 time only then select the per user option. User here is a group.
That is how you map the printer again according to your needs. If it still gets the problem then it is time to degrade to 32bit windows.
