I am wondering if there is something wrong with my computer since the CPU usage meter that I have activated on my screen is displaying a value of 49% down from 55% with all the non – Microsoft services disabled. Does anyone know what might be causing this drop? Please help.

What is the cause of the drop in the CPU usage meter?
That will be happening because of the usage of the computer. If you are subjecting the computer to memory intensive tasks that require extreme usage of the CPU then I suspect that is what is causing the CPU meter to drop as you have indicated in he question.
Also, you might have installed an application that is requires a lot of memory and CPU space to execute and therefore causing the CPU meter to drop. The remedy in that case will be to remove the application, or if the system is not so slow you can leave the application and maybe consider upgrading the RAM capacity of the computer.

What is the cause of the drop in the CPU usage meter?
Hello Ace,
Normally, the CPU usage meter will be reading high because a lot of activities going on on the computer, or for some other reasons like the following:
-
A crashed program in an infinite loop.
-
Spyware or malware infection on your computer.
-
Too much brightness.
And therefore, when the CPU usage meter drops it implies there it less intensive programs running on your computer, and also your computer is free from the risk of malware or spyware infection. You can go to the task manager and see the applications that are currently executing.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Carl
