Hi all,
I am using Windows XP. I have updated my Outlook Express from 5.x to 6.x. But I am facing a message while trying to start up Outlook Express 6:
“Msimn caused an exception C0000006h in module Directdb.dll”
Also, I cannot log in to my Hotmail account. Please help me.
Thank you!
Error message in Outlook Express and cannot login to hotmail account
Hi Benjamen,
You can try to correct the error by following the steps.
· Rename the messages.ods file if you do not want to save your email messages on Outlook express.
· If you do want to save your email messages, go to Start > Find > Files or Folders > Type messages.ods *.dbx on the named filed > Find Now > Move the messages.ods file on the same folder where the .dbx is. You need then to go to the registry and delete convertedtodbx entry. To do that, go to Start > Run > Type Regedit > Ok > Look for HKEY_CURRENT_USER > IDENTITIES > SOFTWARE > MICROSOFT > OUTLOOK EXPRESS > 5.0 > Convertedtobox > Delete > Ok. Restart Outlook Express afterwards.

Error message in Outlook Express and cannot login to hotmail account
You will get this error message while your Messages.ods file’s location will be changed from the particular folder in Windows registry. This problem is called store corruption.
You could solve your problem just following some steps below:
Get search menu>type ‘Messages.ods’>Copy that file to same folder which has .dbx files
Then, Start menu>Run>type ‘Regedit’>click Ok>Double click on ‘HKEY_CURRENT_USER’ to expand it>Double click ID>Double click software class ID then Microsoft
Now, Double click on Outlook Express and select 6.0 Outlook Express. Then you should pick the entry ‘ConvertedToDBX’ from the right pane folder and delete the shortcut menu.
Finally, you have to restart your computer to make changes effective.
Also, if you are unable to log in to your hotmail account, you just simply go to this link https://www.techyv.com/questions/outlook-express-unable-log-my-hotmail-account/, here you will get more information.
Hope this will help you to solve your problem.
Thanks!
