Repeated reboot while disk on DVD drive
There could be a number of reasons why your DVD device is somehow causing reboots to your system. That depends on what DVD device you’re actually using. Although you mentioned you’re using an HPDVD drive, it would have been more helpful if you specified the actual model of the drive. Anyway, here’s a couple of troubleshooting steps that you can perform on your drive:
1.     Make sure you have the updated drivers for your device. Since you’re using HP, then the first site to look at is their website: https://support.hp.com/us-en/
2.     In Windows XP, there is a DVD troubleshooter. Just follow these steps to get it checking your device:
-
Go to Help and Support through the Start menu
-
Click on Fixing a Problem
-
Look for Games, Sounds and Video Problems
-
Click on DVD Troubleshooter in the right pane
Follow these steps first to get a grasp of what you're actually experiencing. The point of troubleshooting is to exactly figure out what's going on as opposed to just saying "it's not working". Good luck!
