I would like to know if Vista has issues if a previous version of AV is not completely removed when installing a new version. I believe that the error message “Installer not responding,” only appears in those cases. I previously had AVG 8.
“Installer not responding” if AVG8 not completely removed
Actually it is not only a Vista problem, but generally if you install an AVG without removing old versions, there might be issues. Here are some recommendations that you need to do before upgrading your AVG:
-
Make sure your computer meets the system requirements for the new product. For AVG, you can view the system requirements here: https://www.avg.com.au/products/avg-anti-virus-business-edition/
-
If you have their anti-virus software installed (Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky), you may need to pick what anti-virus you want. The AVG Resident Shield might respond erratically if you have these other software products.
-
Does your system have a third-party network or contents filer (like Integard)? You need to install AVG manually for a compatibility test.
-
Since you previously used AVG 8, there might be some remnants of it still in your system. You need to have these removed before you can go ahead with installing a new version. Click here for downloading tools: https://www.avg.com/en-in/avg-pctuneup
Once those are done and you are still facing issues, you may want to revert to us with more details, like the version number that you are trying to install. Good luck!
