Hey,
I currently use winzip but noticed there is a paid version so I was wondering what is an extraction utility like winzip but free and fully accessible? If there is a big difference between the still perfectly access able winzip and a fully access able free alternate version?
What is extraction utility that’s like winzip but completely free?
Hello Susan,
There are several free alternatives to WinZip which have almost similar features and are fully accessible along with supporting all popular compression formats including encryption and password protection.
I would suggest you have a look at these alternatives which are absolutely free (and some are open source too) for home and enterprise users –
-
PeaZip 5.0.1 – This cross-platform compression tool supports variety of file formats and introduces unique concepts to improve archiving related jobs.
-
7-Zip a powerful and open source tool that integrates well with Windows shell. Has a powerful file manager interface. Is available in multiple languages too.
-
jzip An easy to use compression tool based on 7-Zip technology.
-
ZipGenius Standard edition – A free utility with no adware, no spyware. Has lots of features for both novices as well as advanced users.
-
Zipeg free file opener – An archive opening tool, that's incredibly easy to use. This tool however does not support creating archives, archives can be easily created using Windows's built-in compressed file creation mechanism.
