VRML stands for Virtual Reality Modeling Language. It is pronounced as “vermal”. It is a language that describes 3-dimensional image sequences or 3D and potential user interactions that go with them. With the help of VRML, you can create a series of visual images into web settings where a user is able to interact by means of moving, rotating, viewing, and or interacting with an actual 3D scene.
Earlier than 1995, it was originally known as Virtual Reality Markup Language. It is a standard file format for signifying 3-dimensional interactive vector graphics. It was succeeded by X3D. VRML is actually in a text format wherein you can indicate the edges and vertices for a 3D polygon including the surface color, shininess, UV mapped textures, transparency, and more.
To be able to view a VRML file, you need to have a VRML browser or a viewer which can also be a plug-in for your web browser. Examples of viewers you can download and install in Microsoft Windows are: Fountain, WebFX, WorldView, Platinum's Cosmo Player, and blaxxun's CC Pro. For Mac users, you have Voyager and Whurlwind.
