I make an update with my XP machine and install a service pack 2.
After a successful update installation reboots my computer. When my team was the shift of noticed that my windows firewall is running.
I try to switch on, but I get this message "due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display the Windows Firewall settings' .
I read in a forum that the cause of this error is due to missing or damaged shared access registry key, which represents the Windows Firewall service.
Try to find a solution there.
Download shared access.reg and save to the desktop, double-click on the combination of file the contents of the registry and restart the computer.
After restarting attempt to check if the problem is solved but unfortunately did not work again.
How do I fix this problem?
Are there any other solution?
Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings
Hi I'm Kattyrine
I've seen your problem and the solution you applied, but it seems you missed a step. Try to open Command Prompt by clicking Start then finding Run. In Run type CMD /K NETSH FIREWALL RESET and then press OK.
Now try and see if it works, if it doesn't, there is one final thing you can try before attempting the final resort of repairing your windows installation.
Now go back to Run and type this line: rundll32 setupapi,InstallHinfSection Ndi-Steelhead 132 %windir%infnetrass.inf.
This command repairs most settings of Windows Firewall and hopefully should work for you, after that don't forget to use Run again and reset your firewall by typing CMD /K NETSH FIREWALL RESET.

Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings
Hi Aeryn,
I understand your feelings about this issue. Just try this method and see if it will work.
Try to call the function Set up API InstallHinfSection so that Windows Firewall will be installed.
1. Start your computer, then click Run, enter cmd, and click OK.
2. Enter the following command line:
    Rundll32 setupapi, InstallHinfSection Ndi-Steelhead 132 %windir% infnetrass.inf
3. Restart your pc.
4. Start your pc again, and click Run, enter cmd and then OK.
5. Enter the following command:
    Netsh firewall reset
6. For the last time, start your pc, then click Run, and enter firewall.cpl. In the dialog box of the Windows Firewall, select On (recommended) and click OK.
Then you need to find out if Windows Firewall has started, to do it follow these steps:
1. Start your pc, then click Run, enter services.msc, and select OK.
2. Look for Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing and look for the word Started.
