Hello everybody,
I need some help from you guys. How to block IDM in the router? Here in our company we are using 6 computers and we are all internet connected and we are using D-Link DIR-652. I just noticed that the 6 pc units have IDM installed in it and it really affects the internet connection. I just want to get the normal speed for downloads for limitation and security purposes.
Thanks.

How to block IDM in the router?
Hello,
Â
Here are some things you can try to prevent IDM from the router. But first of all I have heard that the D-Link DIR655 isn’t the best choice for that kind of network. If you can afford try something like a Cisco 1921 and invest in a client-server for better control.
–         The first thing you can try is to remove local administrator privileges so the software can’t be installed. Â
–         Talk to your manager and ask them if you can lower their account privileges, so you can't modify the setting by yourself. This can be done in 10 min and it can block the program through Windows Firewall.
–         If this doesn’t solve the problem you can try the following:
o  1. Open Run (winkey + R)
o  2. Type regedit.exe and click on enter.
o  3. Go to : HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareDownloadManagerLastCheck
o  4. Change the date to any future date.
o  5. Close regedit and restart your computer.
Hope this information can solve the problem.Â
How to block IDM in the router?
It is definitely possible to block the internet download manager through the router. For that you need to block the port that is being used to download and web browsing. It is the port 80 for all kinds of router. For D-Link DIR 655 you need to block port 80 as well. Once you will block this port, you will find that the IDM is being blocked. In the same way you can block any kind of download manager.
