Avira Antivirus Uninstallation fails to delete all files
If removing the Avira software in the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs doesn't work, you may need to uninstall it manually. Follow the steps below:
1. Download the latest Avira installation file from the Avira official site and then save the license hbedv.key on another directory or if you already have the 25-digit activation key, please have it ready. The hbedv.key is in the Avira folder located in C:Program FilesAviraAntivir Desktop.
This step cannot be applied for Avira Free version. You can go to the Download Section from the Avira website and then save the software to your computer.
2. Start your computer in Safe Mode. Press and then hold the F8 key while booting up. And then choose Safe Mode and confirm it.
3. Click Start and then All Programs. Go to Accessories and Windows Explorer. Go to the following directory: C:Program Files and then remove the Avira AntiVir directories. If you created a directory on installing AntiVir, delete it. Change the name of the avira AntiVir directory if you cannot delete the above directories.
4. Change the directory in the Windows Explorer: C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication Data for Windows XP and C:ProrgamData for Windows 7 and 8. Delete the Avira AntiVir directories form the Avira….
5. Unpack the Avira Registry Cleaner in your Desktop. Run the cleaner and then click Scan for Keys and enable the Select All option and click Delete.
6. Restart your computer for changes to take effect.
Avira Antivirus Uninstallation fails to delete all files
If you want to uninstall your Avira antivirus but caught this error during the process, this makes the uninstall incomplete. The program is already uninstalled but there are components left on the computer because of the error. The best way to fix this is to install the program back and uninstall it again. The antivirus should uninstall successfully after this.
Another way is to perform a force uninstall with Revo Uninstaller. Download the Pro version of Revo Uninstaller and install it. You can use the free trial period to force uninstall any program that didn’t uninstall completely. Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then click “Forced Uninstall.” On the next screen, click “Browse for” and select “Folder.” Navigate to the installation folder of your Avira antivirus and select it.
Click “Next” then following the instructions. Restart your computer after this.
