I would like to install a software on my PC that would monitor temperature of all components on my PC, adjust the fan spin rate, improve FPS and shut any unnecessary programs. Which is the best software and from where can it be downloaded?

I cant seem to turn off  iMac display while I am watching a movie from HD TV. Can anyone guide me how to do so? Also tell me how often must I switch off my iMac?

I switched on my Windows PC after an year or a little more time. Being in the idle state since such a long time, I think it has become somewhat slower, and takes more response time for any action.
