I have been using linux for a while now and wanted to ask how much does a linux machine difer from mac os machine because they all seem to be unix based and i was wondering at the same time why some softwares work in linux and not in mac and vice versa

I noticed that the cpu on my linux machine (ubuntu 14.10) was running at 20 with me having done nothing (haven't opened an application) and on checking my graphics card, i see ubuntu at the same time has mesa installed (make me assume that gpu is also active). how can i reduce this load on both gpu and cpu

I have been using audacity to filter out noise from an audio file. Is there a way that i can run audacity on the terminal in such a way that i can easily integrate the noise filtering using a shell script i.e like an audacity command line version of audacity whereby i can just pass arguments and options

Hello, im a linux (ubuntu 14.04) user and ive been using iodine to tunnel tcp packets via the dns and i was wondering if there is any software i could use to detect these packets with me being at the gateway where all the packets pass out to he internet

Im a student and just out of curiosity i would love to know how to detect reset packets in wireshark which normally indicates that a port is blocked in linux. How can i create a wireshark filter to do this and if it can work is there any other way i can use 

Does windows os even have advanced firewall configuration? and if so how can i set up an advanced windows firewall settings in windows with policies such that it allows some open ports given an event has occured, user logged in/ out, detected a lot of ports being scanned among others
