In recent years, I have been hearing more and more about NFC technology for mobiles phones and even access cards. Can anyone explain to me what does NFC stand for? What are the main uses for such a technology in the actual world? How do I use it to connect my mobile phone with others?

I just got myself an HP deskjet 2545 printer. I bought this model in order to rid myself of cables as much as possible. I am trying to connect the printer to my laptop through a WI-FI connection, but so far to no avail. I have tried to use the software provide, but windows 8 is not compatible with the drivers.
