Google I/O is a yearly developer conference held by Google to announce their new developments in hardware and software. This year it was heavily emphasized on AI and its integration with their tools and software that was much awaited since the AI race between tech giants has caused a massive shift in customer base.
1. Google AI Updates For Significant Applications And Workspace
Google Workspace tools like slides, docs, G-mail, and other applications are getting integrated with their brand-new language processing model PaLM-2 which will take suggestions and language structuring to a whole new level as it will not only be able to suggest short form reply but can understand the text and create a detailed response like a human would in a tone and point specified by the user.
2. Google Bard Integration With Search
Their language processing model PaLM-2 will also be getting reworked to work alongside Google search, which will extensively impact the performance of Google search and its ability to produce facts directly on the search result using the context provided by the user. It will be able to process the input on the search and find top and genuine websites and cluster their data and images written on top of the search results without the user needing to open any links. This will be available on all search results.
3. AI Integration With Google Cloud
The Cloud computing space AWS has been hugely dominant, but in the coming future, the image might change with the integration of PaLM-2. The console will be able to suggest processes and sub-systems based on the queries generated by the user it will be able to specify to a molecular level the type of structure that might suit them best and estimate an average operation cost. This will change the game as the overall business cost will decrease with lesser and lesser consultant and analyst costs.
4. New Large Language Model : PaLM-2
Google PaLM-2 is the latest and most advanced large language processing model developed and introduced by Google. It currently has the operation and ability to write and understand multiple coding languages and will be able to do complex and unstructured mathematical concepts. It has been built using improved model architecture, an optimized dataset mixture, and compute-optimal scaling. With the ability to support multiple human and programming languages, it can solve math puzzles and write code. Extensive evaluations were conducted to identify and address potential biases and harms. PaLM-2 is powering Google’s generative AI features and tools like the PaLM-2 API and Bard and is also being utilized in other models such as Med-PaLM and Sec-PaLM.
5. Android Ecosystem updates
The updates in the ecosystem have been incremental, with more emphasis on large screen devices and foldable’s with minor updates to wearables and their behavior. The update has spread to even more devices and has significant changes to android auto, and more devices and vehicles are getting wireless android auto on legacy software with minor tweaks.
6. Google Maps Updates
Google announced a feature overhaul to the Street View sub-application of google maps with a brand new feature called Immersive View for Routes. It is a Street View feature that combines machine learning and hoards of user and laboratory data to give you an immersive view of the path you are taking and what all landscapes and sights you may encounter before starting your journey.
7. Google Photos Update
Google is introducing a new feature Magic Editor to google photos. It will be an extension of all the features of magic eraser. The editor will be able to resize images and resize or change the position of a subject in the frame and will be able to do touch-ups to the background. It will also be capable of generating brand-new detail in the picture if there are any irregularities or inconsistencies after editing.
8. Google Pixel Tablet
Google Pixel Tablet is a first in line with the Pixel series of devices. It will be a new segment in the series that will provide tablet and google home functionality in a device. The device comes bundled with a speaker dock which will reside as its permanent resting and charging location. The device comes with the same hardware specs as the latest pixel devices with a larger screen and a larger battery. The tablet can work stand-alone without the dock as an Android tablet that can be carried anywhere and has a good screen real-estate.
9. Google Pixel Fold
Google Pixel Fold is another new addition to its Pixel line of products as a foldable device that gives the convenience of a smartphone with an extended functionality of a tablet device. It comes with all the new developments by Google in its foldable and multitasking functionality. It is a flagship device by Google and has the same material and hardware as the Pixel 7Pro, their flagship smartphone, also with the same camera group and hardware.
10. Google Pixel 7A
Google Pixel 7A is Google’s latest update to its midrange series of smartphones. This year the A series got the most prominent upgrade it has ever received throughout its lifecycle. The Pixel 7A has band-new camera hardware after six years since Google Pixel 2. It got a new 64-megapixel sensor with super res zoom. which takes impressive photos taking forward the brand name. Also, the secondary shooter is now a 13-megapixel ultrawide sensor. The device also got brand-new wireless charging capability which has been due for generations. The new display has been upgraded to a high refresh-rate 90Hz Oled panel.
