Review of iOS 5 by Apple
Apple introduced another ingenious operating system for their users called iOS 5. In the Worldwide Developers Conference, senior vice president for Apple, Scott Forstall announced this software during his keynote address covering only 10 of approximately 200 new features built for consumers. The iOS 5 has been made compatible with all those devices that contain iOS 4.3 like iPhones, iPads and iPod touch models. According to Apple, this operating system includes more than 1,500 APIs and 10 key new features. In this article we will give a brief overview of the features designed in this software.
One of its biggest features is that it is “PC free”. In other words, iPhones or all such devices will no longer require connecting to a computer be it desktop or laptop. Exchanging of data, downloading, and all your tasks are going to be completely wireless. Updates and news will simply be over-the-air and no messing around with cables any more. This means an end to all the cables and syncing wires.
Next we can see a great improvement in Notifications. The Notification Centre merges all your notifications bringing them into a single interface that you can access everywhere. The coming of this interface has said goodbye to the old process of checking your notification one by one. Inside the notification Centre just one tap of your finger will switch you right to app from which you received the notification. Deletion of the unwanted notifications has also been simplified.
Another great attraction is the iMessage. Apple has taken a great leap in the instant messaging services in iPhones although not quite parallel to the SMS. This service allows you to send photos, videos, texts, and contacts. Now you can receive delivery reports, read receipts and indications whenever your contact is typing a message during iChat. The point to be noted is that messaging can occur only between iOS devices.
Newsstand: according to Forstall most of the major magazine publishers and newspapers have already signed up for App Store Subscriptions. Now, there’s no need to download an entire newspaper whenever you feel like reading. It looks a lot more like iBook. It is similar to an iOS folder that displays icons for subscription. Stay updated with the world out there!
Shocking improvement in camera features! With iOS 5 you can now capture photos by pressing the volume’s up button located at the right side of the phone rather instead of hitting the camera shutter on the screen.
The grid, pinch-to-zoom feature, exposure locks, focus, and touch can be used when capturing a photo. The app comes in with a number of features similar to a photo manage of a computer such as crop, rotate, sharpen, and red-eye removal. Beautiful and enhanced photos can now be captured by just the push of the button.
Safari Web Browsing was made easy. Safari reader will enable you to read at perfect ease with no distraction provided by any excess content. All persions are now stripped off in your Safari reader enabling you to save all those articles of your interest.
Now tweeting from your iPhone is no longer complex. Twitter integration allows you to perform the “@reply” to your contacts simply in no time. Simply type in a name and iOS 5 will do the rest for you enabling you to add your location.
And this is not the end. There is a lot more to it. The simple thing to do is to get an iPhone with iOS 5. Don’t be surprised if your life becomes a lot more enhanced, fast, and colorful all of a sudden.
