Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge vs S7 Edge
The technology train can never halt. Every other brand in the market is upgrading their devices continuously. When Samsung has come a long way from Galaxy S to S6, how could it stop there? After modifications of S5 with Active, Plus, Mini, Neo, etc., it did the same with Galaxy S6 and introduced the Edge series. Galaxy S6 Edge was a huge step by the developers, after the disappointment it gave with the S5.
SAMSUNG GALAXY S6 EDGE:
The first of the Edge series, it made quite a successful sale. The design is chic, and the device looks glossy and metallic. It makes the phone look hi-fi and sophisticated. It is a curvy edged model, but the sides are sharp. The build is sturdy and light. The price was in agreement with its status-show, i.e., over a 40,000/-. Along with the usual colors of black, white, and gold, a gorgeous green emerald appeared in the markets as well.
As you can see, the rear view is botched with fingerprints. That is a price you pay for getting the good gripping glossy, metallic surface.
The screen is sized 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440×2560, which is pretty amazing. It runs on the standard v5.0.2 Android OS, but the marshmallow update is available. That is because it was launched in 2015 and our geeky buddies would not pay such a price without the latest OS in their phones. To the shutterbugs, the primary camera is a delightful treat with 16 megapixels. Front-camera in Samsung was never very impressive, so selfie addicts must make-do with 5 megapixels.
Now for the glitches, the power button is positioned a little lower than where your index finger usually rests. It forces you to move down each time you need to press it. The battery life is incredible at 2600 mAh, but it is non-removable. The lack of microSD card slot has met a lot of criticism. The internal memory was, however, available in 32, 64 and 128 GB. It was coupled with a 3GB RAM.
Why EDGE? It has some edge-related features. Five of your favourite contacts can be displayed on the edges. Each has its colour, and when they call, the Edge lights up telling you it is them. You can slide along the edge without picking up the device to view some notifications. These are some king-style features you get. If you are that lazy, this is heaven.
SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 EDGE:
After the proper reception of S6 Edge, Samsung decided to launch Galaxy S7 this year. The emerald green is lost, the standard colors remain, pearl white, golden, black sapphire. However, there is a delightful addition to the list, silver, and pinkish gold.
It is a slightly heavier phone; S6 was 132g while this Galaxy S7 weighed 157g. The display is kicked up to a good 5.5 inches. However, the resolution dropped from 577 pixels to 534 ppi. The frequency of the processor is 1.6GHz now instead of 1.5GHz. The device is bigger and better looking with a more efficient grip. The camera became so flat that if you place it on its back, you cannot tell. The design is sleek, as expected. There is gorilla glass on both sides.
This machine is robust and sturdy. The device is waterproof. However, fingerprint lock system gives a lot of trouble in rain. One more exciting addition is an extra GB than S6; the RAM is now 4GB.
Since, it is 2016, the Android version 6.0 Marshmallow is the core OS. The microSD slot has returned, which is expandable to 200GB storage space. The battery is still removable, but they raced up battery life by making it 3000 mAh. This phone supports dual-sim, unlike the Galaxy S6.
The camera resolution was decreased, though. The primary camera is now 12MP but with dual sensors; so, the focus function works well. The secondary is the usual 5 megapixels. Both S6 Edge and S7 Edge lack front flash feature.
We get a USB adaptor to fill in for the type-C port. And there is a first feature, the game launcher that emerges from the edge. All in all, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is a good update to the series.
