There has been a lot of commotion this year in the launch of wireless earphones. Many companies have already launched their products but most of them heavily compromise on at least one quality. Samsung has become the first mainstream major company to come up with its own wireless earphones. The Samsung Gear IconX is the first step by the company into the rapidly expanding wireless earphone segment. We present our review of the Samsung Gear IconX.
The Samsung Gear IconX earphones connect to your device and to each other wirelessly. The ear buds are comparatively light and hook up to your ear snugly. The ear buds have hooks which lock in with your ear cartilage for a good fit.
The Samsung IconX is heavily pushed in the fitness segment. The IconX is specifically designed to work seamlessly with Samsung’s fitness app S Health. The IconX can record the heart-beat, calories burnt, number of steps etc. to monitor your workout.
The IconX can be controlled using the touchpad on each ear bud. You can change tracks, navigate and change volume. The IconX has an onboard memory of 4GB.
Samsung claims than if you stream music through Bluetooth the IconX has a battery life of around 1.5 hours while if you play music from the onboard memory the IconX can last for up to 3.6 hours.
The Gear IconX comes in a pill shaped box that charges the ear buds when placed in it the box itself carries 2 charges. The ear buds themselves will come in 3 sizes for ensuring an optimal fit.
Samsung Gear IconX is a good wireless ear bud but a little disappointing on the battery life. Like most wireless headphones out there the IconX also compromises on a crucial factor.
