As a micro-blogging platform that was first introduced in 2006, Twitter has grown to become one of the most well-known social media companies in the world, with over 217 million monetizable daily active users as of the year 2021. It is also renowned for making social media conversations quicker and simpler. The platform also makes it possible for people with different ideologies to interact and exchange ideas while maintaining a respectful tone. Millions of people turn to Twitter for the most recent news, and it gives activists, journalists, and media outlets the ability to share and break stories. To maintain the user experience, Twitter releases updates, just like other social media platforms. It has also unveiled new features this year, some of which are already in testing. Users must therefore be aware of any updates the business makes to improve its user interface and reach its targeted population. Many of the new features are presently restricted to certain regions or operating systems, like iOS.
1. Twitter Users Can Now Co-Tweet With Others On The Platform
The famous saying “two heads are better than one” has probably crossed your mind. By introducing a new feature that enables users to co-tweet, Twitter started testing that theory today. Users can invite any public account that follows them to co-author a tweet using the feature, officially known as “Co-Tweet.” However, the invited party has the option to refuse. The Co-Tweet draught will be removed if they do this. Twitter probably has the same goal as Instagram in terms of attracting creators and fostering brand partnerships between influencers and businesses. Co-tweeting will increase both authors’ discoverability and engagement by allowing them to connect with new and larger audiences.
2. Twitter Looks To Longer Content With Notes
Currently, Twitter revealed the launch of Notes, a new feature that will let some users publish longer content on the site. The feature is currently undergoing testing. A few authors have begun testing the idea by sharing longer posts with their audiences. Unlike the current 280-character posting limit, note titles can be up to 100 words long while the body of a note is limited to 2,500 characters. Users are also able to edit posts after they have been published, unlike regular posts.
3. Twitter Testing Product Drops Reminder Feature
A new shopping feature on Twitter will aid marketers in informing audiences of new product introductions. Users will be able to tap a “Remind me” button on Product Drops whenever a retailer tweets about a forthcoming launch. The button is located at the Tweet’s very bottom. Users can click on the merchant’s Tweet to be taken directly to a Product Details Page if they want to learn more about the product. Along with the price, images, and product details, this page will also include a clickable hashtag that users can use to see what other platform users are saying about the item.
4. Twitter Introduces Twitter Create, A monetization Hub For Creators
Twitter has introduced Twitter Create, a microsite aimed at assisting creators in generating revenue from their accounts, following in the footsteps of TikTok’s Creator Portal and Instagram’s Creator Lab. Previously known as Twitter Media, the website offered product manuals, case studies, and interviews with social media authorities. The website organizes content according to objectives like monetization, engagement, and relevance; the latter teaches users how to have a strong voice on the platform. More objectives are anticipated. Additionally, Twitter Create has broadened the range of industries it targets and now offers information content that isn’t just for digital creators. Content will now also address podcasters, writers, journalists, and people employed in the news, sports, gaming, film and television, music, and non-profit sectors.
5. Twitter Introduces Two New Ways To Engage With Tweets
Users can use the pin reply feature to move certain comments to the top of their replies section. The feature, which enables creators to highlight the responses they want their audience to see, is already available on Instagram and YouTube. This could be used by social media marketers to affix testimonial-like comments to a brand’s Tweet. Users will be able to start a Twitter Live Space about a specific Tweet using a different new feature. Twitter Spaces are Clubhouse’s replacement on the social media platform, which offers live audio chats similar to live podcasts. Businesses have shared thought leadership, Q&As, commentary on live events, giveaways, product releases, and more through these audio chat rooms on Clubhouse and Twitter. Twitter may be creating the feature in the hopes that it will entice more users to join Twitter Spaces.
6. Experts Say A Twitter “Edit” Button Is In The Works
According to mobile developers who post leaks on the platform, Twitter appears to be creating an “Edit” button. Alessandro Paluzzi, the feature’s developer, recently disclosed that an “Edit” button is in the works and will enable users to edit Tweets for up to an hour following publication. Paluzzi explained that Twitter will designate altered Tweets as “Edited” next to the time and date of the original Tweet.
7. Twitter Tests Longer Videos For Subscribers
On its platform, Twitter recently declared that it is testing longer-form content with Twitter Blue subscribers. Longer videos can now be uploaded by subscribers on iOS, Android, mobile.twitter.com, and desktop as of March 4. Twitter Blue tweeted that these videos are longer, “as in 10 minutes long,” though the maximum length hasn’t yet been confirmed. 1080p video uploads will also be available to subscribers, but only on desktops. Through Twitter Blue Labs, where users can test platform updates before they become available to all Twitter users or are taken down from the platform, these features are being tested. In some cases, only subscribers can access the new features.
8. Twitter Adds Search Bar In Settings
Users of Twitter won’t have to search through the Settings section to update their accounts and other features. The platform now has a search bar that can be seen in the Settings section’s upper-left corner. Users can now simply type “language” into the search bar to access the settings option when looking to change a setting, like a language, for example.
9. Twitter Expands DM Message Pinning To All Users
Up to six Direct Message conversations can now be pinned by Twitter users on Android, iOS, and the web. Before, only users who paid for Twitter Blue had access to the feature. Users will be able to keep significant conversations in their sights and minds thanks to the new feature.
10. Twitter Tests Downvotes Worldwide
As the platform continues to test the new feature, Twitter announced that more users will have the option to downvote Tweets on the web, iOS, and Android. According to Twitter, some iOS users will see different up-voting and down-voting options starting in July 2021. Twitter wants to know what kinds of responses users find most helpful in a discussion. Upvotes are seen as likes, whereas downvotes are private.
