If you go on vacation with friends or a significant other, you may be able to rely on them if you need something that you didn’t pack—you will have a backup option. However, when you travel alone, you don’t have access to anyone else’s equipment, so you must ensure you have everything you require. While these tools and equipment are useful for all travelers, solo travelers, in particular, would benefit from having them.
1. Cables And USB Ports
To ensure that I always have a port available in case I need to plug my phone into a socket or a power bank, I usually bring two or three Standard USB ports that are compatible with my Apple phone. They are always simple to grab when I need them because I usually keep one in each bag.
2. Adapter To Plug And Travel
These are necessary! Make sure you have a travel adapter that will work in the countries you visit by researching the plug types used there. But keep in mind that not all “universal” adapters are universal. For instance, none of my “universal” adapters worked for Namibia because I needed a specific one.
3. Power Bank
You will be caught off guard with a battery, thanks to the ability of these portable devices to serve as a power source for your phone (or other electronics). At the very least, I always carry two power banks. I also remember to check that they are fully charged the night before I leave by writing it down.
4. Useful Water Bottle
Whether on a city break or exploring a remote area, you always need water. Consider a reusable bottle you can fill if you want to avoid purchasing single-use plastics. I prefer one that is reasonably small and will fit in my backpack’s bottle pocket.
5. Dry Bags Or Packing Cubes
Dry bags are a great way to keep my belongings and clothes organized when I travel with a backpack. When you’re looking for something, organizing items into bags makes life much simpler than cramming everything into the main compartment.
6. Suitable Apps For Smartphones
As you prepare for your trip, consider what you’ll be doing and download any necessary apps. In addition to the apps for trains and airlines, I frequently use the Citymapper app when I’m in a city.
7. Mini Carabiner
One of my favorite travel tools for solo travelers is the mini carabiner, which I recently discovered and found to be the perfect solution when I was on an Albanian beach by myself. Although I wanted to jump into the water, I didn’t want to leave all my belongings on the sand in case they were stolen.
8. The Case For Waterproof Phones
These water-resistant phone cases are made to do just that—protect your phone from the elements. And that’s how I operated mine while kayaking in a fjord in Flam, Norway. Put the phone’s camera end closest to the strap, so it is easiest to take pictures.
9. Luggage Scale
You must probably keep your luggage under a certain weight limit if you are checking a bag or even if you aren’t (some airlines have weight restrictions on cabin bags). A portable luggage scale is useful in this situation. Any bag or suitcase can be attached to the scale with the help of the strap. After lifting the bag using the scale as a handle, You will display the weight on the digital display.
10. Mini Handheld Fan
It is probably my favorite device that I’ve found this year, and it helped me travel around the Balkans in June and July when it was extremely hot! Because there aren’t many trains in that area, I rode many buses.
