The 3.5mm headphone jack is becoming less popular, and more phones are being sold without it, continuing a trend that began in 2016 with Lenovo/Motorola and Apple. There are a few benefits to doing this, such as making room for other essential components within or getting rid of it for improved water resistance. However, with these phones, users must use either wireless Bluetooth headphones or headphones with a USB Type-C or Lightning connection to listen to their calls and music.
1. Google Pixel 3 And 3 XL
The smaller Pixel 3 and the bigger 3 XL capture excellent images even in extremely low light thanks to a single rear lens. The phones can screen undesired calls in addition to having a second wide-angle front-facing camera, a water-resistant construction, and wireless charging. The phones also come with their own set of earbuds, unlike last year.
2. Iphone XS, XS Max And XR
The iPhone XS and XS Max (shown above, left and right) both have upgraded dual cameras, a quicker processor, faster facial ID, and they now support dual SIM cards. At hundreds less, the iPhone XR (middle), which is available in a number of colours, offers nearly the same features as the XS duo.
3. Motorola Moto Z3 And Z3 Play
It is a dependable midrange phone that is compatible with a future modular adapter that will link the device to a faster 5G network. The Moto Z3 Play, meanwhile, comes with an additional battery pack that extends its battery life to two days. The fingerprint sensor on the phone’s right side is simple to use, and its version of Android 8.0 Oreo is a pleasure to use.
4. OnePlus 6T
The OnePlus 6T provides premium technology including a lightning-fast processor and a superb camera for hundreds of dollars less than its rivals, despite the fact that it lacks a headphone port and a water-resistant design.
5. Sony Xperia XZ2 And XZ2 Compact
Super slow-motion video can be captured at a resolution of 1080p on the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact, along with HDR photographs at a resolution of 4K. The XZ2 Compact features a 5-inch display, while the XZ2 has a 5.7-inch screen, so overall the phones have similar specs.
6. HTC U12 Plus
The U12 Plus is available from online merchants and HTC’s own website, but a carrier will not provide this colourful, translucent phone. It’s a shame because the squeezable phone injects innovation into a stale market.
7. Huawei Mate 20 Pro
The Mate 20 Pro is without a doubt one of the best smartphones of the year because to its outstanding feature set (which includes an in-screen fingerprint reader and an attractive design).
8. Razer Phone 2
The Razer Phone 2 adds IP67 water resistance, a brighter 120Hz screen, and wireless charging despite its underwhelming battery life. Additionally, it has outstanding built-in speakers and offers excellent gaming performance.
9. Oppo Find X
The Find X features a gorgeous design, an awesome camera that protrudes from its body, and a large battery with quick charging. Additionally, it includes top-notch features like 3D facial scanning for unlocking.
10. Xiaomi Mi 8, 8 SE And 8 Explorer Edition
With its on-screen notch and vertically stacked cameras, the Mi 8 bears a startling resemblance to the iPhone X. Another option is the Mi 8 SE, a smaller model with a 5.88-inch screen and a lesser processor. The Mi 8 Explorer Edition is the first Android phone with a 3D face unlocking function that projects over 30,000 infrared spots on the face. It also has a transparent glass back panel.
