What is a humanoid?
The word humanoid means anything that resembles human and has the same appearance and characteristics such as walking, opposite appendages (thumb), the upright framework. These days’ animation, video, and games uses humanoid. Robotics applies the concept of humanoid and is called ‘humanoid robots.’
What are the types of humanoid?
There are various types of humanoid as following:
1. Mythic humanoids- The mythological creatures that look like the human. People praises and worship the humanoids as deities. The multiple types of humanoid are:
I. Human skinned humanoids- They differ from men as due to genetic mistakes or mutation. The height of these humanoids may not be the same an average human or their eyes may not be in the same line, or ears may be little out of shape.
II. Monstrous humanoids- They are no less a monster and can inculcate fear and aversion.
III. Temporary form humanoids- These creatures change or convert themselves into the human but does not completely turn into humans.
IV. Monster skinned humanoids- They look similar humans but have the extreme difference such as claws and tails, skin color, scales and fur, the type of eye.
2. Humanoid Robot-
The robot that resembles and the structural framework of a human such as two legs, two arms, head and an upper torso. The male form of the humanoid robot is called Android and female is called gynoid. It is and automated robot which can modify itself to the different surrounding. Some have an outer body of plastic or metal which is different from that of the human.
Purpose- Researchers use the humanoid robots in several scientific areas. They study about the human body structure, i.e., biomechanics and frame the humanoid robot.
Advantage:
The humanoid robots are aimed to build a better life for the humans. They can assist the elderly, and the sick people can perform the dangerous and life taking jobs. Jobs like a secretary and worker are apt for the robots, and hence the corporations will have to spend less money. People uses humanoids as a source of entertainment. Children get attracted by the various Disney robots and animations that walk and talk like human beings. Some of the robots are so like that differentiating it from h7umans are difficult.
Disadvantage:
I. The cause of worry of the people is that humanoid robots will replace and change the job scenario of the business.
II. The better and advance the humanoid robot, the more expensive it is. Not all will be able to afford it.
III. It will change the lifestyle of the people they will entirely rely on the robots to work and become lazy.
