Xiaomi, the Chinese manufacturer has been constantly upgrading the quality of their phones. The phone when first announced created quite a BUZZ with the low price tag and the high specs. And yet another surprise with the new xiaomi redmi note 2 (or the note 2 prime).
The earlier limitation of xiaomi was only in china, but as they decided to have an adventure with the other countries smartphone market xiaomi realised that it had the potential to grow. A vast line up of the company’s flagships and redmi series have been popular with people of all ages (the ones that use smartphones though).
With the current release of the xiaomi redmi note 2 the company has yet released another smartphone with good specs which is here to give the competitors a tough time.
LOOKS
In the looks department the phone scores really well by having black bezels in the front and a removable back behind (hopefully aftermarket covers in various colours come out). Even though the phone is plastic built it doesn’t feel cheap, in fact the feel is quite premium in the hand. With its slightly curved edges it looks and fits in the hand perfectly though typing with one finger might be a little problem to some people with smaller hand size.
SCREEN
The redmi note 2 gets a 5.5” IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080x1920p. the big screen with the specified resolution offers 401ppi. The viewing angle of this phone are crisp and sharp. All in all an excellent display is packed in this affordable phone. The only con in the display section is that it lacks vividness sometimes.
PROCESSOR AND MEMORY
Talking about powering the redmi note 2 we have an octa-core mediate helio x10 processor with a clocked speed of 2.2 GHz. This coupled with the 2GB of ram should be sufficient to get the user through most of the needed tasks without any lag of any sort. The graphic processor bundled with this phone is the PowerVR g6200, which should make gaming also fun.
The phone has an internal memory of 32 gb but that’s not a worry as an micro sd card slot has been provided. The phone has dual sim card slots with 4G connectivity speed in both the slots.
CAMERA
The redmi note 2 is equipped with a rear 13 mp auto focus camera and a 5 mp front facing camera for selfies. The auto focus is quite fast but the camera performs just above average. But again then for this price range we can’t really ask for anything more. The stock camera application features many modes including the manual mode for letting out the photographer in you!
SOFTWARE
The redmi note 2 runs the android version 5.0.2 along with the much appreciated MIUI V6 although an upgrade to the MIUI V7 is possible in the near future. Despite running the heavy MIUI rom the phone doesn’t lag in day to day activities and the 2GB of ram manages it quite well.
BATTERY
While the redmi note 2 has the quite an impressive screen and processor to keep working it must have a good power source also. The redmi note 2 has a 3060mah battery which will just barely keep your device working for 12 hours on normal usage. Using the phone very less can get you through the day without charging your phone.
