A few weeks ago, I had a problem with a Google Chrome extension that I always use. This led me to downgrade to an older version of Google Chrome. The extension on this one doesn’t have a bug, but it was replaced by error dialogs saying

Your profile cannot be used because it is from a newer version of Google Chrome.

Some features may be unavailable.

Please specify a different profile directory or use a newer version of Chrome

My Google Chrome warns me not to open a Facebook because apparently, it thinks Facebook is a “Suspected phishing site!” How come my browser says so?

The site on the address bar is for my home page on Facebook. I don’t see any harm in opening it.

Can someone tell me how to find out if I’m on a phishing site?

I was at work when I downloaded Google Chrome.

During installation, I received an error message "Installer download failed. Error code = 0x8000421f4".

Our office has a firewall that is good at screening things that aren’t work-related.

I figured it’s the firewall that prevents the complete installation of Chrome because it’s possible that the installer requires stuff from sites not allowed by the firewall.

Why doesn’t Google put everything in one file?

We all expect Google Chrome to be efficient considering that Google is its developer. However, one user, Sulav, cannot open his Chrome. So, he decided to contact live support.

He gets error messages like “The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application.” or

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005).

Reinstalling the latest Google Chrome did not solve the problem.

If reinstalling doesn’t work, then what else can he do?

Our Google Chrome’s Dev Channel is malfunctioning. This is typical when we open PDFs with Chrome’s built-in viewer.

To stop it from freezing and making more damage, we decided to close Chrome.

Bad news is, opening it again results to two error messages headed by Your profile could not be opened correctly.
