Hard Drives

Hard Drives

I want to be able to work from home without missing information I may have at work. And then get to work and have information I left at home. Is it possible to clone certain files from each computer to a external drive. Then just carry the drive back and forth?

I would like to add more internal drives when I rebuild my case in a couple years. But for now I am going to add external drives to store extra photos and music. Can you use internal drives in a external case and vise versa? I would like to take a part my external and mount it internal later if possible.

I am not sure what kind of drive we really need. We do not have any hard drives except the ones in our machines. We are going on a trip and want to use a drive for multiple purposes. We need to have one for movies and music plus be able to store our photos on from our digital camera. Can we do all this on one drive? Any suggestions on what would be best?

I just purchased a WD Passport and backed up all my photos and files to the drive. The next day when I went to add more files the drive froze my computer. Now I can not access the drive without it causing problems. How can I get the files I have off of the drive if my computer keeps freezing up? Is this a software problem or drive issue?

I am running 2 drives in my main system with 2 additional external drives. I am looking for a quick way to scan all these drives to find any duplicate files. Then I want to keep one file and delete the rest of them. Is there a program or script I can run for this?

I backed up and reformatted my main hard drive. Then I realized my backups were incomplete. I need to get the data off of the drive I just reformatted. How can I restore this data from this hard drive? Is this possible without software? Or a software you can recommend?

I have a couple older hard drives that I added to my machine. I wanted to get old photos off of the drives. I know the password for the admin. But neither drive is letting me access the file system. Both were running Windows XP. How to get the files off these drives?

I really do not want to put everything in a cloud because it does not seem safe. A lot of reports of people having it hacked. Can I put my photos and docs on a external hard drive and store it in a chest freezer? Then in a emergency like fire my data will be secure?

I was going to stop using my second drive because it was conflicting with my main hard drive. So I went out and changed the drive letter to E. I took that drive out to put into another computer and the new computer can not see the drive.  How can I switch it back to C so the computer will see it?
