Hard Drives
I keep seeing the term " hot swappable hard drives " Is this the same as a external drive? Or is it a type of internal drive? What makes them be termed hot swappable? Where did this term come from? And do I need a drive like this for a online business website?

I have two internal drives but do not need both of them. Can I wipe the OS from one and trick the computer into thinking its a blank flash drive. So I can just back up and temp load files in it? Is this possible with a regular internal drive?

I formatted and set up a new hard drive in my second machine for the CD Rom drive. When I went to put it in the first maching it would not load the drive. So I put it back in the second machine and it works fine? What am I missing on it not working in the other machine?

I have a newer 1TB drive that I installed last year. So far it has worked great with no problems. I went to delete a few old photos off the drive last night. And it will not actually delete them. It acts like it is erasing them but when I go back and check. They all still show up in the directory. Is this a virus?

I was trying to copy a file from one hard drive to the second drive on my PC. Now when I looked all the data is only on one drive and the other one is empty. How can I fix this and have the data divided again on two drives?

I really hope someone can answer this for me. But can I use a USB3 powered ext HDD work on USB2. Will this cause any system problems? If a USB3 powered external HD be able to function properly if it's plugged into a USB2 port? Will there be enough power to support this?

I live in a rural area and our power spikes and goes out quite a bit. This last time after what I think was a power spike my hard drive is not showing up. I have tried running it in safe mode and can not get it to see the drive for anything. Any suggestions?

I have no way to access my hard drive because it keeps coming up and saying that the BIOS does not recognize my drive. Is this the drive failing or something that is set up in my BOIS? I am not a real techie person but need to get this fixed somehow.

I set up a external 2TB Seagate hard drive for back up and over flow storage. After setting it up I checked the drive size and it is reporting 120G. How could I have lost all that space with out anything installed on it? Is this a partition problem or a bad drive?

I use my external drive for everything to easily switch between home and work computers. It was working just fine but I just plugged it in when I got home. It now says there is nothing on the drive at all. I am so worried about losing everything. Is there a way to read a drive to recover any files on it?
