Hardware
Hello
I was speaking to my ISP helpdesk the other since was having slow connections lately. He asked me to do to a lot of stuff over the phone, ran some speed tests, check browser and firewall settings, I was even asked to callback after running the antivirus/anti spam software.
He then suggested that I should perhaps change my ethernet card since it could be the issue. Now my problem here is I don’t have enough cash to buy a new one right now and I really need my internet to speed up, since I have a deadline to meet for my job. So, what he suggested to me was to try to contact my local tech and ask him to change the ethernet adapter speed.
And so I thought I’d go to you guys for help.

Hi,
I don’t know if the problem is (a) compatibility of Vista to my system; (b) problem with my hardware and peripherals; (c) defective windows vista. In any case, I need to fix this problem as I consume a lot of time just waiting for my computer to boot.
I have an HP Core Duo having 2 GB RAM. Vista is Home Premium Edition. Whenever the system needs to start up, it takes up at least minimum 10 minutes before it lands on the desktop.
The sound of the hard drive can be heard meaning it is booting up, but the screen is steadily blank and black. After the extremely long wait for boot-up, the computer works fine.
Everything is OK, opening websites, opening files and even connecting to network drives and files.

Hi friends,
I have HP Compact dx2300 Microtower (HP Compact Home Edition). I have downloaded a lot of files recently to update my system, some of which are Internet Explorer 8, Yahoo Messenger, Adobe Reader, etc. After downloading, a system restart was required to enable the system to apply all the changes. I did the restart, but after that there was just a blinking cursor and a message saying cannot boot from CD. I manually turned off the CPU, tried to restart it again, but same thing happens.

Hi,
I have so many cassette tapes that I kept for years. All of these still plays in my CD-Cassette player with good quality sound.
I know that these tapes will not last for a very long time like audio CD’s.
My problem is, how I can transfer songs in Cassette tapes to CDs?
I know that there are shops that offer transferring of music/video from cassette tape to CD, VHS to CD/DVD, but it is too expensive.
Thanks.

I wonder now how can intruders of computer have an access to my computer?
Do they use some tools in breaking into the system of a computer?
If so, what are those?

Hi,
I salvaged one computer desktop from our stock room.
I installed Windows XP and MS Office 2003. The specs of the computer are as follows:
- Intel ® Core ™2 Duo CPU
- E4400 @ 2.00 GHz
- 2.00 GHz, 504 MB of RAM
Everything seems to be fine, but I observed that the computer’s performance is a bit slow. Connecting to the internet, opening folders and even printing takes time to accomplish.
Also,a balloon message kept coming saying that virtual memory is low.

Hi folks,
Windows XP is not starting in my Dell Laptop. I get the message that Windows is unable to load because <Windows root>System32hal.dll is missing or corrupt. I don’t know what .dll file is and where to get this. I tried running in the Safe Mode but I can’t. My primary concern is to save my files from the computer’s memory. Can I still recover my files? What can I do in this situation?
A friend of mine told me to re-install windows, but I am worried that if I do such, I cannot recover my files anymore. Please help.
Thank you.
