Laptops/Notebooks
My laptop is protesting to power on all of a sudden. I was operating it without battery as it was dead a few months back. I had shut it down properly last day. But this morning, all of a sudden this problem has surfaced, this is the first time and I am worried about huge service cost already. I am thinking to open the laptop but I do not know whether it will be safe or not, also, I do not know what to look for. Had anybody had similar bitter experience? How did you overcome that?

I am facing a problem with my new laptop. I use dell one. For past several weeks the laptop has started to turnoff for itself for no reason. I do not work that much in laptop. I never run high algorithms or 3D design software to think of over speed over heat. Still, the laptop turns off by itself after just 30 to 45 minutes of power on. Is this because of a virus? I even kept laptop just on doing nothing. However problem repeated again. Now I am worrying about my laptop? Can anyone help?

did some games download and installed them. I am certainly sure that after that day onwards, my laptop screen goes off and on by itself! As against CRT monitors there is no separate switch to turn on turn off laptop monitors. Some time it flickers and goes off, wait for some time without touching laptop, the screen is back in full shape. What is happening? I have not dropped or damaged my laptop any time. I am sure of it. Even screen doesn’t show any physical damage. Is there way to debug this and find out the root cause? There is no fixed time to turn on back, but by my experience I am sure that laptop screen will turn on again. This repeats endlessly

The laptop hangs, keyboard and scroll pad doesn’t work and waits for some time and then I hear a beep sound and it turns off automatically. I do not understand what happening. Assume I am working on MS office in laptop, with no other tasks running in background, all of a sudden first MS office will become blur, kind of indication that it is stuck, then later entire windows stuck. It doesn’t respond for control alt and delete too. Either I have to forcefully shut it down or wait for itself to turn off after a beep. How to resolve this. Laptop gives full performance when it is running. Isn’t that the good hope?

The laptop screen blurs out. It doesn’t turn off fully as when we keep it in standby mode. But the intensity drops to say 1%. I have kept the brightness to around 60%. This doesn’t happen all the time but whenever it happens, I have to go to a dark room and look at the laptop. Only then I can make out what document is open, that too with heavy difficulties and them finally I can shut down safely. What is this indicating to me? Is battery screen dying? Is it a loose connection? How to fix it? Let me know any utility software which can be used to diagnose the health of the screen. By the way, it is 4 year old.

I got a friend with a flash disk and he asked me to copy him some movies from my Personal Computer and l did so. I first scanned the disk and made sure it was virus free then l formated the disk. The are virus that we detected but not deleted by the antivirus. Later in the evening l successfully shut the PC down without any problems. Then the following morning l woke to switch it on but it was able to boot up. No error message is displayed on the screen. The fun runs just for a short while then stop and it goes off. What could be the problem?

I am curious to know whether there is enough technology to stop charging of the laptop when connected for prolonged hours. I never remove charger cable from the laptop. It will always be on mains. My friend insists me to work for some time on laptop without mains so that battery gets discharged. But, I never listen to him. Is it really important to charge and discharge the laptop battery frequently? If yes, how frequently? If yes, up to what percent the battery should be discharged?
