Linux Distributions
I am using Linux on my i5 laptop. I want to use fold on my machine but I don’t know much about it. So, I have some questions about folding in Linux.
What is the advantage of using Fold? How can I use fold Linux? Is there any software needed to use Fold?

Almost every Linux Distributions I have looked at require you to have a 386 processor. Does this mean that say a Pentium II 233 Mhz Processor from an older laptop will not work? Piease give me quick solution.

When I log in as root and start x the watch-like timer doesn't go away and nothing appears in the task/control bar. The k menu works ok though. Is this normal? And if not how do I fix it? (Everything works fine on my user account though).

Our son was assigned Linux in one of his computer classes. My question pertains to the different distributions of Linux and which one would be more appropriate for a 10 year old. I"m also looking for one that has a fairly family friendly knowledge base and that won't mind him asking some basic questions as he gets going. So far, he seems to be leaning towards Ubuntu or Redhat but we're still open to suggestions. Thanks a bunch!

The Linux Distributions I have looked at support X Windows.
Does this mean that after everything has been configured I can say, start up my computer and won't be shown a Unix prompt, it'll boot up to the X Windows interface?

Hey Guys,
Yeah I know the problem is supposed to be so obvious that I shouldn’t post but guess what, Firefox IS running and I still get these error message friends:
Zotero – Error
An error occurred communicating with Zotero. Please ensure Firefox is open and try again.
Ok
Ideas please!!
Thanks.

I have a WiMAX USB Modem (ZTE AX226).
This Modem has built-in software for Windows. But, I need to use this USB Modem in Redhat Linux or Ubuntu.
Is there any package for ZTE WiMAX Modem in Linux? Or how can I create a script to run this WiMAX modem in Linux?

I've been wanting to try Linux but I'm afraid I am not that much of a techy to be able to use it. I just want to do stuff like browse the web, watch YouTube videos, listen to music, watch movies on my computer and perhaps a little bit of word processing.
My friend recommended Ubuntu but he says there are still a lot to download (codes he says) before I can use it to play movies and stuff.
Is there a Linux version that I can setup and immediately let me do the stuff that I want to do?
