Linux
I installed Windows to my 3TB hard drives first to see if all the hardware works okay. And I want it to set in RAID5 and load the Ubuntu server. With the exception of the Ethernet card. And after that the RAID was not recognized to Ubuntu because it is a valid disk. Can you give me some suggestions on how to install the Ubuntu set up would be raided Linux servers and to be installed easily without any hesitations?
And I want some servers with a trimming to access. So that I could done and install this well.

I am using the Ubuntu operating system which I installed using the Wubi installer for Windows. I find that the DNS server does not work when I use the internet through Windows after accessing the internet through Ubuntu. This problem occurs everytime I access the internet that way. I am assuming that the DNS server gets reset by Linux. I am connecting through a proxy network. Can you help me get around this issue?
Thanks.

I installed the Debian GNU/Linux operating system and ran into a problem after installing. It simply stopped and showed a screen that kept flashing the Debian logo and nothing else. There was no way to enter anything on the keyboard so I used scrolling to look for an error message but found none. I restarted the system and got the following error message:
‘error hd0, msdos5 read error
entering rescue mode >’
I am curious as to why I’m seeing MS DOS5 when I am installing Linux software? Please advise me on what to do. Thanks.

I have a USB flash drive on my computer. Is it possible to install Linux or Ubuntu in my USB flash drive and start up my computer from there? Will I still be able to get into all files, change printing options and do other things if I log in to my computer using the USB flash drive? What effect, if any, would it have on my hard disk? Thanks for your help.

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 as my server giving me root access to modify or install whatever needs to be modified / installed. I have reasonable experience in Linux but I have never had to modify email servers so I have very limited experience in what I am trying to do. Basically, I would like to forward all emails sent to me to another email address where I will send emails or replies when needed.
I do not want to send emails or replies from my own email. How can I do this? Thanks.

I want to reformat the hard drive and install a more recent operating system like Ubuntu to my Apple Power G4.But I found out that my notebook would not turn on I already tried to charge the battery for good 4 hours but it doesn’t giving a response.
Does the adapter is shot or the battery itself shot? Here’s my UFO/yo-yo style model adapter: M7332/ SR# 1191804177.What could you recommend about this? Do I need to replace the old battery?
And can you give me some suggestions if what is the cheapest battery because I just only have a limited budget.

I would like to set up and install Ubuntu and then dual boot it with Windows 7 until I become comfortable using it. I am using the Windows Installer Wubi for the process, and I am installing it on a 30GB partition in drive C. But I am receiving an error. I have tried all the possible solutions that are available in the internet, but nothing helps. The screenshots of the error are shown below:

I am trying to encode a 16-bit grayscale image to movie using FFmpeg SVN-r0.5.1-4:0.5.1-1 Ubuntu1.1. I am using FLV1 codec but the pixel format changes to YUV420. I think the codec is not compatible with the colour space and I am receiving the following error: "Incompatible pixel format 'gray16be' for codec 'ffv1', auto-selecting format 'yuv420p'" I have also tried the raw video but ended up in container compatibility issue. I couldn’t find any codec that satisfies both the colour space and container requirements.
Please help me resolve the issue.
What should I do?

I am unable to perform a clean installation of Ubuntu 11.10 using the 32-bit or 64-bit installation CD on my dual boot computer as the screen breaks to a black background with a cursor without proceeding to the installation process. I am able to successfully complete the 64-bit installation process using a USB stick but on restarting the computer, it throws the following error message: “Error: invalid arch independent ELF magic”
Can anyone help me to resolve the issue?
