Linux
Guys and Gals,
I have an Ubuntu 10 OS which was sent to me via postmail for free. When I installed it, it didn't ask for the super user password. I can't do anything much on the operating system except browsing the internet and other office productivity. I can't install any service/packages because I don't know how to login as a super user. Is this a limitation to ubuntu? if so, then are there any workarounds?
Thanks in Advance
Karl N.

I have been using crontabs for a simple automation of scripts. I was wondering if there were any products out there which would help to manage this in a better manner for redundancy and/or high availability. Perhaps storing the jobs in a database, so the system can be easily recovered if it fails, and having the system query the database for the jobs and timeframes for execution.
Thanks

I have employed it on all Fedora versions but the same error message pops up every time.
Any one who can help me out.

Suse Linux is the Operating System of our server.
We install our system there and make a folder named "user" where we can save our important files. But we have this common problem, this happen two to three times a week.
The user folder have a lock symbol on it and we can no longer save any file to that folder. Access denied is the message.
We then need to restart our server.
Is Suse is reliable as OS for our server?
What's wrong with our user folder?

I have been trying to access a shared folder in a Windows operating system using my Ubuntu laptop. There seems to be an issue in accessing these folder even though I have provided the username and passwords. The folder contains php web pages that I am trying to access through my laptop. How do I access this folder in Windows using a Unix based operating system?
