Linux
I've been wanting to try Linux but I'm afraid I am not that much of a techy to be able to use it. I just want to do stuff like browse the web, watch YouTube videos, listen to music, watch movies on my computer and perhaps a little bit of word processing.
My friend recommended Ubuntu but he says there are still a lot to download (codes he says) before I can use it to play movies and stuff.
Is there a Linux version that I can setup and immediately let me do the stuff that I want to do?

Please take a look at this error snapshot shown here-
Error:
Unable to mount FAT32 sdb1
DBus error org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor.Failed:
An operation is already pending.
OK
I am not able to mount other partitions manually also. I can’t understand what is the problem?
Can anybody help me?

OK
And another window shortly afterwards saying:

Hello experts! Is there a way to disable the Login sounds in Ubuntu? I was in a public WiFi hotspot and everyone turned their heads towards me when they heard the Ubuntu Login sound. It's really embarrassing and nothing's worse than booting the laptop in a public place and subjecting around you to the Ubuntu login sounds. So if there are simple steps to follow, I would be glad to disable it for good. Or is there a way to change the sound to a windows login sound?

I want to get the Qalculate on Linux. I don't know what is required and from where it need to be downloaded and installed?
It is used to convert currencies based on the latest exchange rates. But I also heard that it can be used to solve and calculate extremely complex algebra functions. I don’t know what is best for me and what software is best to perform that task. If you know something better, then please inform me about it. And also tell me how to install it

I heard from a lot of people using Ubuntu that you can use standard Microsoft fonts when creating important documents or reports. Is that true? If it is, then I would like to know how to do it. I occasionally create reports, essays, legal documents, and other critical documents for editing. I want fonts like Times New Roman, Arial fonts and Courier New. Is there software needed to download for that? Is there a cost for that?
