I am using Ubuntu 14.10 and gnome-metacity is my current windows manager application. Recently, the apps bar at the top just disappeared and it is not available in metacity. I tried switching back to gnome-3 and the X-face which works, but i prefer using metacity. Anyone with an Idea on how i can bring it back?

I bought a new Intel NUC5i5RYK which has an i5-5250u processor and the intel HD 6000 graphics. However, I have tried to install Ubuntu 14.04 or and 14.10 on it without succeeding. During installation, it only loads the grub and then shows a picture with broken graphics. The windows have bars only but no text or anything else within it. They seem to appear when I pass the mouse within the windows and then it freezes. This has happened twice today. Help me

I downloaded Linux Console OS few days back and it was the latest version. It is still not updated. I used a DVD to burn the files of .iso files and tried to boot the OS as a live user. It says to press ALT+F2 button to start the console but when I press the buttons, I get a black screen and nothing after that. How can I boot the OS?

I'm really confused on the above mentioned topic. Whenever I try to install Linux on my system, the setup always provides me with the only option to install Linux over Windows which I don't want to. How can I dual boot Windows and Linux? If possible, share me a video link so that I will understand the steps properly.

I have a Samsung laptop that I bought with Windows OS in it. I needed to use windows OS and Linux Mint; therefore, I had to format the OS. I installed Linux but I did not set a password, however, I set one for Windows, as it is compulsory. The computer boots fine but whenever I access Linux, it asks for a password. I have tried all sorts of passwords including the windows password but none seems to work. How am I to go about this?

Linux is as powerful as Windows though it doesn't run all Windows applications. I can't understand why people use illegal copies of Windows OS when Linux is available for free with the same capabilities. What will Microsoft do to stop piracy and free distribution of its Windows OS in the near future?
