Hi friends,
Recently my server has been slowing down and so I decided to format the operating system and re install afresh. Afterwards i decided to run quest recovery manager for active directory forest edition.
I want to recover the active directory domain service. I am hoping I will view the comparison reports and see what objects and attributes have been deleted or changed in active directory to enable efficient,focused recovery at the object or attribute level.
In the process, I encounter this sort of an error message which am hoping somebody understands and will get me help as soon,

Hi,
I am trying to add another Server 2008 R2 domain controller to a 2003 domain within our existing forest.
We already have 6 Servers 2008 R2 domain controllers in this domain. I encounter an error message at the end of the DC promo and prevent the server becoming a domain controller. Full error:

Hi all,
I want to ask a question with regards to publishing printers in Active directory. I am running a windows 2003 server domain in mixed mode. On my print server, I select the option “List in the directory” and when I add a printer from one of the client computers I am able to see all the printers.
At any rate, even though I have the GPO enabled, I don't see any printers in AD. If I then go to the Users and computers right click on new and select printer and enter the UNC of the device, I get a message box that says;

In am running window 2008 on VMware and currently want to set up DCPRO as a virtual center which is supported by windows 2008 server as indicated on the manual. Running DCPRO I receive the error below about ports are already in use. Issuing the NETSH – a commands shows the ports are NOT in use.
Removing the static RPC mapping per KB 92985 fixes the problem. Note the range I used to statically map starts at TCP 49, 172 which does not involve ports mentioned as already in use. See below.
Any idea what is going on?
The error is as follows:

HI,
My organization has several domain controller located in different areas and two of them have a problem.
The two DNS server both running windows 2000.
When I try to connect to them by their server name, I get the error “Cannot connect to DNS server” and when I try to connect to them using their qualified domain name i.e. (name.company.net) I get the error message;
DNS
The server is unavailable. Would you like to add it anyway?
Otherwise if I delete it and add it again using its server name only, I get the error.

Hi experts,
I am setting up windows Essential business server installation wizard. I have already configured the MMSC configuration container in active directory including the status of each server set up. I think I made a mistake of manually cleaning up the active directory objects and settings and thus damaging the directory, the environment required by Windows Essential Business Server. Now I keep getting the following error message;
Windows Essential Business Server Error
Domain Join Error
Setup failed to find the server : Messaging in Active Directory.

Hi,
I'm learning on how to install and run Windows Server 2008 in a non production environment to make sure I understand how to configure it. This is a brand new environment – there are no other AD or DNS servers. I'm running the AD DS wizard (I have not installed DNS on this server yet – it mentioned it would set up DNS during the AD DS setup – should I have set it up first?)

Hi,
I am doing a test migration from SBS 2003 to Win 2008. I have run adprep /forest prep and adprep /domain prep on the SBS server. I have raise domain and exchange functionality. All this has gone fine. I have joined the 2008 64 bit server to the domain.
But in the last stages of DC promo on the new 2008 server I get the message
Active Directory Domain Services Installation Wizard
You will not be able to install a read-only domain controller in this domain because "adprep/rodcprep" was not yet run.
Do you want to continue?
