Hello guys,

Few days back I purchased a used desktop computer with 2.67 GHz processor,512 MB RAM and 160 GB hard disk. Last night when I tried to repair/re-install my MS Office Student and Teacher edition.

I kept getting the error(mentioned below)

I am new to Project. I have two questions.

1. My company has Microsoft  SharePoint site, do I need Project? Can SharePoint do the same job as Project does?

2. What does Project server do? I thought Project was like Word or Excel, it's individual program. But it seems like it is client-server based program like Outlook with Exchange. Do I have to buy server license if the individuals do not have to collaborate?

Hi folks,

Almost all my work in the office needs MS Project. Our files are stored in the server. 

When the day starts, I opened my file for some updates, I meet and error that I pasted below, and it took me minutes to open the file.

There was a problem sending the command to the program.

As I looked into the error, on my understanding there is a problem with the file. So for better analysis and isolation of the problem, I copied the file to my computer. When I try to open the file, there is no problem and I can open it in a normal speed.

When I was at the office I am using Microsoft Project to manage our projects. When I was on the process of updating the file, the error message box appeared with a message that it encountered a serious problem.

When I saw the error message, I don't have any other choice was to click on the close button, after which MS Project closed, I restarted my computer and re booted it again, when I started MS Project there was no error, I am back with my work, but suddenly same error appeared.

Do I need to re-install MS Project or are there any other solution?

Please give some advice.

Most of our work in the office is to monitor our different projects to see its efficiency and timely accomplishment. One of my co-workers is complaining on the error I pasted below.

A pasting error occurred on ID 1025 in the Predecessors column.

If you want to link the two tasks, outdent the substask to a summary task, and then link them.

To cancel this paste operation, click Cancel.

To continue pasting with additional error message and ignore this error, click Yes.

To continue pasting with no error messages in this column, click NO.

I am working on a project, which is  the document  will  received work from team foundation. This project is saved in our Project server. When I want to open the file for some reference I received an error message that I pasted below.

When I was on my field work to address some client concern, I came across a user who want to use Microsoft Project, so I asked them for their installer and installed it. while installing I encountered this error, I pasted below the screenshot.
