I am having issues with my Lenovo Ideapad, which makes me suspect it might be at the end of its run. When I try to start it, all I can hear is some normal fan work for roughly 10-15 seconds. Then the fan stops, the screen remains black, and everything seems to be dead. I would like to try and salvage it, but I don’t even know what the problem could be. I am suspecting the motherboard or, ideally, one of the RAM modules. Is there any way to know for sure? Are there any other possible causes?

I am an avid gamer, and I have set up my primary desktop computer with this hobby in mind. However, I will have to travel a lot in the coming months, and I wanted to buy a laptop that would allow me to play on the go.

I have restricted my search to the Lenovo Y50 and the MSI GE60 Apache.

Which would perform better when gaming? Is there something better on the market within this price range?

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 8 installed on it. While I am playing games, the video screen suddenly turns green. To be able to play again, it will require me to restart my computer. Can you please help me understand the difference between clock speed and core speed? We bought an Autodesk license and we were able to run the software smoothly in an Optiplex Desktop (Business PC) rather than a Dell Precision which is they say built for design and high graphics computing closely similar to server. They say the software did not work on the Dell Precision because of the clock speed.
